Lead our Profession into the Future – Become a UAND Board Member!

January 23rd, 2013

We are preparing the ballot for the 2013-14 UAND Board of Directors.  This year the following positions are available:

  • President-Elect
  • Treasurer-Elect
  • State  Policy Rep
  • Annual Meeting Chair Elect
  • Delegate
  • Nominating Committee Member
  • Social Media Chair Elect

We are writing this letter to ask you to consider a board position yourself or consider nominating a fellow UAND member who you think would be a good candidate for any of these positions.

Professional service can be satisfying, provide personal growth, and broaden horizons for both the dietitian and her/his work setting.  Several years ago, the dietetics faculty at BYU published the findings of a study which showed that dietitians who were professionally involved had more job satisfaction than those who were not involved.  Serving on the UAND board of directors can foster leadership skills and provide networking opportunities.  Through our own personal experience, we know that serving on the UAND board can enrich the work environment as well as the individual dietitian.

As we seek good candidates for the upcoming ballot we would like to ensure broad representation across many areas of practice, so that you have a voice as important decisions impacting our profession are made.  Much can be done from the office.  All board meetings are now conducted via conference call for those unable to attend in person.

Once again, please consider yourself or a fellow UAND member who you think would be qualified to serve on the UAND Board.  We are trying to complete our ballot in the next week.  Please contact one of us by January 24, 2013 so that we can discuss candidates and opportunities and complete the nomination process.

Thank you,

2013-2014 UAND Nominating Committee,

Susan Blenner, MS, RD, CD     Diana McGuire, MS, RD     Kristi Spence, MS, RD, CSSD
