Patient-Centered Medical Home: What It Is and the Potential Role of the Registered Dietitian

February 19th, 2013

Ken Schaecher will be presenting at a Thursday afternoon break-out session.  His background in medicine and his roles as Medical Director, former Chief of Staff at a local community hospital, former President of largest independent multi-specialty clinic in the Salt Lake Valley, and member of the Utah Medical Association give him the experience to talk about patient-centered medical care.

Dr. Schaecher maintains a limited internal medicine practice, which provides unique insight into issues that arise from both the payer and provider perspective and allows for decision making that can be win-win for all parties.

Dr. Schaecher’s current role as the Medical Director for SelectHealth in SLC allows him to be actively involved in the oversight of patient centered medical home activities.  He is engaged in making health care about the patient – the customer – and has an active role in plan benefit design to meet an ever changing healthcare environment.

Come spend some time in his breakout session to learn what patient-centered medical home is an what the potential role of the RD is in this type of care.
