Bariatric Surgery and Nutrition: Steering Your Patient to Success

February 28th, 2013

Teri Lund will be presenting at the annual UAND Friday afternoon breakout session.  She will be presenting on Bariatric Surgery and Nutrition: Steering Your Patient to Success.  Teri’s enthusiasm for healthy eating began after getting her fill of fast food and frozen entrée dinners as a child.  This interest in nutrition along with encouragement from friends and family struggling with the disease of obesity motivated her to earn a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the University of Utah in 2010, becoming a registered dietitian.

Teri specializes in weight management and has been certified by the CDR in Adult Weight Management.  She is an active member of the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Whether someone is seeking a medical or surgical approach to weight loss, she helps them improve their lifestyle to lead to better health and enhanced quality of life.  Providing the support, tools and strategies necessary for weight loss success is her number one goal.

In the breakout session, Teri will review the various types of weight loss surgery currently approved by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, review assessment of the bariatric patient (pre and post-surgery), review the dietary restrictions after weight loss surgery and explain the stages as the patient’s food plan progresses.  Come join us on Friday afternoon to learn more about bariatric surgery and nutrition.
