Working with the federal government may seem daunting but thanks to much pre-work by the Academy and great efforts on the part of our UAND advocacy leaders, they always make great strides in communicating and meeting with our national officials.  The information on this page will give you an indication of our active efforts and how you can take simple steps to help promote great things!

Utah RDNs Participation in the Academy's Legislative Priorities and Grassroots Initiatives

Utah Senator Orrin Hatch is the Chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, which is a primary committee responsible for evaluating the American Healthcare Act.  UAND’s Advocacy Pillar sent this letter to Senator Hatch’s office on 9-20-17.

Public Policy Workshop (PPW)

The Academy’s Public Policy Workshop was held on June 25 and 26, 2017 in Washington D.C. to advocate for nutrition services in the new health care bill and the Farm Bill. UAND’s Reimbursement Representative, Nikki Kendrick, and State Policy Rep, Wendy Phillips, attended and met with U.S. Congress members from Utah to advocate for nutrition services.  Click here to learn more!

The Academy’s Public Policy Workshop was held on June 23 and 24, 2016 in Washington D.C.  As members of the Advocacy Pillar for UAND, Martha Archuleta and Wendy Phillips were honored to attend PPW and meet with Congressmen and their aides to advocate for nutrition-related public policy.  Learn more about the 3 legislative priority issues that we discussed with our members of Congress and see some pictures of the event!
