Maureen Murtaugh

August 19th, 2014

Maureen Murtaugh | UAND Treasurer

Maureen is originally from Pennsylvania, about 30 miles west of Philadelphia. She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Epidemiology at the University of Utah and an Adjunct Faculty Member in Nutrition.  She teaches a class about how to get funding from NIH for research. When asked what she enjoys the most she said, “I enjoy the interactions I have with students and Mentees.  Seeing them succeed is just plain fun.” She advises young dietitians to “[not] be afraid to take opportunities when they present themselves.”

If she could have any super power she’d like to be “super efficient so [she] could do [her] job in half the time and have more time to play.” Her favorite food tradition is making a big Sunday dinner for family and friends.

As UAND treasurer she hopes to 1) restructure the investments to improve the financial status of our organization and 2) promote/support revenue generating activities in all pillars. She has already made some fabulous strides as she assisted in reorganizing UAND’s assets. We appreciate all her work and dedication.
