For the upcoming June 2014-June 2015 term, the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics board and committees have several positions open. Benefits from serving on a committee include opportunities to:

We need your expertise, experience, and leadership! Which would be the best fit for you?

Membership Committee Member

Purpose: Build a stronger network of dietitians in Utah, develop professional relationships, make friends, learn, and have a good time.

Responsibilities: We plan parties, host events, and reach out to dietitians all over Utah.  We will have 4-6 networking events this year and would love your help.

Qualifications: Dietetic student, intern, DTR or RDN

Term of office: 1 year

Social Media Committee Member

Purpose: Assist in generating content for UAND social media platforms and lead the annual effort to grow the social media presence of the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Responsibilities: Write content and post to UAND blog once per month; write content and post to UAND Facebook once per week; participate in social media committee meetings;.

Qualifications: Dietetic student, intern, DTR or RDN

Term of office: 1 year

National Nutrition Month Committee Member

Purpose: Assist in developing and implementing a plan for statewide recognition of National Nutrition Month

Responsibilities: May include any of the following:

  • Contact state and local government to declare National Nutrition Month (NNM) and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day
  • Assist with fund raising or grant applications.
  • Develop press materials, videos, pamphlets/brochures to promote NNM.
  • Coordinate with Public Relations Chair to publicize NNM events and activities.
  • Plan activites and events to raise awareness of RDs/RDNs, UAND, and Nutrition.
  • Empower RDs/RDNs and students to develop and share NNM activities in their own practice settings and communities.

Qualifications: Dietetic student, intern, DTR or RDN

Term of office: 1 year

Annual Meeting Committee Member

Purpose: Assist in planning and coordinating the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting which serves the members by providing opportunity for continuing education credit, professional development, and networking

Responsibilities: We plan the largest UAND activity of the year—the Annual Meeting. Responsibilities vary, but you would have a chance to serve on one of several sub-committees: marketing, speaker, sponsor/vendor, venue, catering, or poster session. We’d love your help!

Qualifications:Dietetic student, intern, DTR or RDN

Term of office: 1 year

Foundation Chair

Purpose: Put together a Foundation Booth at the annual Meeting, to raise money for the foundation.

Responsibilities: Attend orientation and Quarterly Board of Directors Meetings; In order to at least meet AND assessment, organize and implement revenue-generating projects; Maintain a separate bank account to facilitate purchases and provide seed money for projects; Serve on Annual Meeting Committee

Qualifications: RD or DTR and UAND member

Term of office: 2 years

Public Relations Chair

Purpose: Spear-head annual effort to create a state-wide marketing plan.

Responsibilities:   Seek out opportunities for UAND to get into public view; Attend quarterly Board of Directors meetings; Create/Maintain a portable UAND information board to be used at health fairs and other marketing event; Work with Speakers’ Bureau Chair to coordinate health fairs and other marketing events; Work with Media Representative to publicize UAND and Academy activities; Organize regular meetings with PR Team; Submit proclamation every year to governor to get Registered Dietitian Day and National Nutrition Month recognized.

Qualifications: RD or DTR and UAND member

Term of office: 2 years
