{"id":2432,"date":"2020-06-10T20:52:17","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T02:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eatrightutah.org\/blog\/?p=2432"},"modified":"2020-06-10T20:57:48","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T02:57:48","slug":"treating-malnutrition-your-health-your-way-your-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eatrightutah.org\/blog\/treating-malnutrition-your-health-your-way-your-table\/","title":{"rendered":"Treating Malnutrition: Your Health, Your Way, Your Table"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eatrightutah.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Capture.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2441\" width=\"522\" height=\"333\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-very-dark-gray-color\">This week, as a cap to our posts for Older Americans Month, we would like to raise awareness of a grant received by Susan Saffel-Shrier to aid in nutrition research for older adults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">Grant title: Implementation of a Collaborative Malnutrition-Focused Transition of Care and Referral Process.<br><br>The grant is funded by the USDHHS, Administration on Aging, Administration for Community Living and totals approximately $1 million. This grant is investigating\u00a0RDN provided medical nutrition therapy in the prevention of hospital readmissions among malnourished community-living older adults. The project is in its first year of a three-year grant. Susan Saffel-Shrier, MS, RDN, CD, Certified Gerontologist and professor at the University of Utah, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine is the principal investigator with Amy Covington, MS, RDN, CD, also from the U of U, and Charlotte Vincent, PhD, RDN, CD from the Utah Department of Aging and Adult Services as co-investigators. <br><br>If you have a patient or client who is at risk or has malnutrition, please consider referring them to the study. Participants need to be 60+ years of age, willing to received HDM, and have been discharged from the hospital in the last 6 months. <br><br>Please contact Amy Covington if you need further information or with a referral.
