As an active member you will stay up-to-date on current research, events, and opportunities in Utah. You will better understand how the organization functions, have your say in activities and priorities, gain professional and personal experience in organizational functions, and make some foodie friends!

Here’s what current members are saying about their involvement with UAND:

“I’ve been involved with UAND for nearly 25 years. I started as student member during my dietetics program. Over the years I’ve been the Legislative Network Coordinator, Newsletter Editor, President, and now the Delegate for Utah. Encouragement from professors and dietitians I worked with got me first involved with UAND. One of the greatest benefits of involvement in UAND is the camaraderie among fellow dietitians. UAND provides a network of experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate dietetics and nutrition professionals. One of the experiences I enjoyed most is going to the annual UAND conference and catching up with former classmates and colleagues I haven’t seen in a while.”

–D. Pauline Williams, PhD, MPA, RDN, CD, Dietetic Internship Director/Associate Teaching Professor, BYU

“I have been the State Policy Representative for UAND for 2 years. I enjoy holding public policy positions because I truly believe that RDNs are the nutrition experts and we need to advocate for our services in a variety of ways. I moved to Utah in the summer of 2015. Since I travel for work I didn’t have a good way to meet people in this state, so I reached out to the UAND board to volunteer for a position as a way to make friends! I now know many incredible RDNs in Utah.”

–Wendy Phillips MS, RD, CNSC, CLE, FAND; Division Director of Clinical Nutrition, Morrison Healthcare

“I have been a UAND member since 1997 and on the UAND board since 2003. After 10 years in direct patient care I moved into informatics which is a less known practice area for nutrition (but I love it). I wanted to keep closer contact with my nutrition colleagues so I applied for the UAND position I am in now as a moonlighting job. I have never looked back. The board is not ‘scary’ like I first thought. We are all just trying to add to our profession. Dietitians are very engaged individuals. The board lets you meet people from all over and learn what they do and share in their enthusiasm.”

–Curt Calder, MBA, RDN, CD; Executive Director, Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

“I’ve been involved with UAND for the past three years and I highly recommend it to dietitians involved in any aspect of the field. Upon relocation to Utah in 2014, it was an incredible way to network with other dietitians throughout the entire state. UAND is not only a great way to boost your resume with valuable volunteer experience, it will help you maintain competency related to other aspects of dietetics and create friendships with like-minded colleagues.”

–Stephanie Roque, MS, RD

Do you or someone you know want to take advantage of all UAND has to offer?

Get involved today!

UAND has the following positions open for the 2018-2019 year:

– President

– Treasurer

– Secretary

– State Policy Representative

– Annual Meeting Chair

– Networking Director

– Social Media Chair

– Nominating Committee

Send your nominations to Nominating Committee Chair, Amelia, at amelia.wegener@gmail.com.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to become more involved with the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics?
